Lisa grew up in sunny Davis California but has been moving to wetter greyer climates ever since. She received bachelors degrees in Cellular Molecular Biology and Psychology from California State University Humboldt. There she studied interactions between the glucocorticoid and serotonin systems in mediating stress responses in zebrafish in the lab of Ethan Gahtan. Before starting her graduate degree, Lisa worked in Cecilia Moens' lab at the FHCRC and used zebrafish to investigate the molecular basis of electrical synapse formation. She is excited to have joined the Bai lab for her thesis work. When not engaged in the doing or teaching of science, Lisa can be found hiking the numerous trails around Seattle, enjoying delicious food, or building strange projects with a local art group.
